Sustainability

The impact on our environment and climate is one of the greatest challenges of our time. At Daily Sports, sustainability runs like a common thread through our entire business and product. From design and production, choice of transport, to when the end consumer receives and uses our garments. We are humble about the important work that lies ahead. Here you can read more about our work, our view on sustainability, and our continuous improvement efforts.

Daily Sports Sustainability Goals
As part of our sustainability efforts, we work with four of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals included in the UN’s Agenda 2030. We have chosen to focus on the four goals where we can contribute and make the biggest difference. We work with these four goals across all five areas of our sustainability efforts:
• Sustainable Fashion
• Sustainable Production
• Climate Footprint
• Social Sustainability
• Gender Equality

You can read more about each area below.

Sustainable Fashion
The fashion industry is often criticized for contributing to a throwaway society. We do not want to contribute to this problem but instead be part of the solution. That is why the foundation of our collections is to produce “timeless garments of good quality that you can wear season after season.”

Sustainable Production
At Daily Sports, we see the transition to sustainable production as the only right way to reduce the impact of our products on the environment and health. Therefore, we work towards the UN’s global Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – “Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.”
We do this partly through our previously mentioned slow fashion philosophy and partly by creating sustainable production and products.

We follow the EU’s chemical legislation REACH and actively work to increase the number of qualities with third-party certification. Together with our suppliers, we aim to always stay one step ahead and phase out substances that may be harmful to humans or the environment.

By reducing water and chemical use during production and increasing the proportion of recycled material in our garments, we can make a big difference.

Sales through our own e-commerce channel are a growing share, and we continuously work to make it easier for our customers to find the right fit through size, fit, and product guides, thus minimizing the risk of returns. You can find our guides HERE. You are also always welcome to contact us directly for help navigating our assortment, HERE.

Climate Footprint
There is no national or international standard for which clothes can be called sustainable. Our definition of a sustainable garment is one that consists of at least 50% recycled or organic material or is made of a material certified by a trusted third party. These are areas we continuously strive to expand.

A natural part of our sustainability work is our choice of transport. Our policy is to always choose shipping by boat as the first option and train transport as the second. Air transport is our last resort, and the same applies to business trips requiring air travel – we hold video meetings as much as possible.

Social Sustainability
Caring for the environment and reducing our climate footprint is one cornerstone of our sustainability work. The other is social sustainability – being a responsible company that cares about people’s health and the communities where we operate. Or as the UN puts it in Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.”

To be present in Asia, where most of our garments are produced, we have an office in Hong Kong. We do not own any factories ourselves but work with subcontractors that meet third-party certifications. We continuously work to improve conditions for everyone in our operations – from production in Asia to the headquarters in Sweden.

Gender Equality
For us, with a majority of female employees, a female CEO and owner, and female customers, it is natural to work towards the UN’s global Goal 5: Gender Equality – “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.” But this does not happen automatically, not even for a brand for women, created by women.

In addition to highlighting and supporting women in male-dominated areas such as entrepreneurship, golf, and sports, we collaborate with organizations that work with gender equality and women’s rights internationally.

For us, an equally important part of gender equality is the UN’s Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being – “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” Our brand promise is to create clothes that inspire women to be active, regardless of age.

Thank you for taking part in our sustainability goals. If you have any questions about the above or want to know more about how we are thinking about sustainability going forward, you are welcome to contact us!
